Personal milestones for January 2024

January is often a big month for personal milestones.  Here are mine:

1.     Daughter’s wedding – definitely one of the happiest days of my life.

2.     Mother (95 with advanced vascular dementia plus behavioural/aggression problems) was finally accepted into 4th nursing home after being evicted from three facilities (and rejected by several others) in 2023. Forget the RAD -v- DAP debate – just pay the DAP and hope I don’t get that dreaded phone call – (‘Come and pick her up – NOW!’)

3.     Switched a large chunk of my SMSF into 'pension phase'. So the earnings and income are tax-free forever! (for that part of my assets anyway). It's a ridiculously unsustainable national scandal, but it's legal!

4.     Started my own web-site for my content, and started newsletter to subscribers. I’m finally on the soshe!  - https://www.owenanalytics.com.au/

5.     Let the wife cull 43 long-sleeved shirts from my wardrobe – down from 107. That’s a 40% reduction – felt good!

Now hoping for a much quieter February!
